Hi Kevin,
Yes Doris Linegar in the photo was the proprietor of Linegar's fish and chip shop, along with her husband, Stan.
Hi Eric Helen will be at the Forge opposite the Maypole Inn on Thursday 11th February at 11am she will be giving a talk to our members on the hisory of the Barrow Trust you may like to join us. Regards Eileen (one of two editors)
I am newish to the village but I have a long standing interest in local history from North Derbyshire and Sheffield.
I have enjoyed Helen's talks on Borden and Tunstall but I am astounded by the wealth of archive resources she has used to write her books.
If she hasn't done this before - would it be possible to ask Helen if she would do a lecture about her resources - her range, the successes and the dead ends.
I feel that this would be very interesting.
Many thanks
Eric Morris
Hope someone can solve the mystery!
Tried the census but difficult without a house or occupier's name.
Because of my grand-fathers early death, we do not know much about him or his family, and possible relatives still in the area. I have searched many of the archives available online and have gathered some limited information; maybe that is all there is, however, I thought I would post this with your organization to see if perhaps someone out there would have some more information about this Hutson family from Borden area.
Thank you,
Tom Hutson III
